BLUEPRINT_ is a project that was done as part of OCAD University's Graphic Design 1 class. It was a studio project that involved the creation of a self-directed motion graphic video accompanied by a book. The project required students to pick a piece of poetry and re-interpret the piece through our designs. BLUEPRINT_ is a re-interpretation of Mexican-American poet, Gary Soto's 1992 poem 'Making Up Time'. The 52 page physical book is a 3" X 8" book printed on 80lb gloss cover paper, a 36" wide canvas roll, acetate sheets and Astrobright color paper stitched together by waxed linen cords. The blue acrylic sheet cover was designed then laser cut and engraved.

The motion graphic furthered the re-interpretation of the theme of nostalgia from Soto's poem. Photographs and videos taken in Montezuma (New Mexico) and San Francisco (California) were used after editing them on Photoshop. Hand-drawn animation was also added on AfterEffects at 2 frames per second. The vibrancy of the colors introduces visual and conceptual cohesion to the final deliverable.
