the8fest

This was a commission project for a local Toronto film festival, the8fest Small-Gauge Film Festival, over the summer of 2023. Version 1 (yellow) was used as the main event poster for the Festival whereas Version 2 (blue) was later used as the design for the program catalogue. The illustration was hand-drawn then vectorized on Illustrator, then colored in and re-arranged for industrial screen-printing. The focal point of the poster is the 8 shaped pool that resembles the familiar style of backyard pools with grid tiles and the characteristic "blue" water. The incorporation of the ducks was inspired by the film projects shortlisted for the festival this year as a lot of the films were home-films and included imageries of birds. The bold and bright colors in the poster sets a strong visual and successfully draws in the attention of those who come across it. The print designs were later printed as event posters, catalogue books as well as festival merchandise.
